ICC Guitar Works is the debut EP from Éire Guitar Duo, featuring original compositions by three Irish and Ireland-based composers: Santiago Kodela, Brian Ledwidge Flynn, and Jack Doherty. The collection captures the expressive range and dynamic potential of the classical guitar duo, blending contemporary language with idiomatic writing for the instrument.

The three works were originally commissioned by the Irish Composers’ Collective and premiered at the Alternative Kilkenny Arts Festival in August 2024. Their alignment with the duo’s artistic mission, championing new music for classical guitar, led to the decision to professionally record and release the works, some as standalone singles, and others as part of this EP.

Each piece brings a distinct voice: from contrapuntal lyricism to rhythmic drive and extended techniques. Together, they reflect the evolving soundscape of Irish contemporary music while showcasing the versatility of the guitar duo format.

Performed and produced by Éire Guitar Duo (Oscar Montague & Santiago Kodela) and mixed/mastered by Grammy-winning engineer Bob Katz, ICC Guitar Works offers a compelling glimpse into the future of the instrument’s repertoire, rooted in collaboration, innovation, and artistic excellence.

ICC Guitar Works brings together the voices of three distinct Irish composers whose creative approaches reflect the diversity of contemporary music-making in Ireland.

Santiago Kodela is a multi-award-winning classical guitarist and composer known for his rhythmically inventive and harmonically rich solo, chamber, and choral works. Co-founder of Éire Guitar Duo, he blends Argentine folk roots with contemporary textures, and is currently pursuing a DMus at Technological University Dublin.

Brian Ledwidge Flynn is a composer, guitarist, and producer based in Germany. His music explores time, stillness, and unpredictability through traditional chamber instrumentation and analog tape processing. A founding member of the Irish Composers Collective, Flynn’s work is widely performed and frequently licensed across media platforms.

Jack Doherty is a versatile young composer studying at Trinity College Dublin and serving as treasurer of the Irish Composers’ Collective. His work often draws from personal and cultural memory, as seen in Lepidopterology, which reimagines the traditional tune The Butterfly. A participant in several composition residencies, Doherty is an emerging voice in Ireland’s new music scene.
